Have you thought about joining the choir at DTKC but feel unsure, intimidated, or rusty with your music reading skills? This summer, we are offering a summer choir school for you! Indispensable for anyone who sings in choir, the study of basic music theory provides a fundamental background, accelerates music learning, and enhances enjoyability.
How can you become involved?
Each session will be specifically geared toward the needs of the participants. Come for one session — or come for all 11 weeks. John Kuehl, a member of the St. Elizabeth choir’s bass section, will be the instructor. He possesses a wealth of choral singing experience.
Sample topics for this summer include fundamentals of note reading and writing, intervals, notation, scales, chords, and meter. Reading music is not required for this course - nor is a prior knowledge of music theory.
When are the sessions?
Each Wednesday, join us from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Ministry Center music room (third floor). Classes begin on Wednesday, June 19.
Park in the main lot on 8th Avenue and enter the Ministry Center through the courtyard doors. (The courtyard parking lot is reserved for handicap and staff/clergy only.)
