Once children reach high school, worldly culture can begin to make following Our Lord more difficult. High school students need support in loving and serving Jesus Christ while having answers to the difficult questions they face about their faith. Our high school program, which combines students from both parishes, meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month at St. James.
Prior to class, we encourage families to attend the Sacrament of Confession together as well as pray in Adoration together to allow God’s mercy and love into their lives. The program begins in church with Adoration, Vespers and Benediction led by Father Sean. Then, we have an ice breaker for the students followed by large group learning and discussion. From there, we break into small groups that focus on morality, Scripture, and prayer. Depending on the topic, small groups may be co-ed or all-male/all-female. Fr. Sean closes the evening with night prayer, and our vibrant and knowledgeable team of catechists assist with learning, discussion, and activities.
This program also prepares students for Confirmation in 11th grade, so the preparation is built into our classes twice a month.
Please contact Louisa Postlewait at the parish office with any questions. We hope you join us in 2020!
