The Giving Circle 2020
We are extremely grateful to our sponsors – St Mary, St. Elizabeth, St. James, St Anthony, Knights of Columbus Councils and St Vincent De Paul Council of Kenosha County. Because of the Pandemic, it has been necessary to make changes in the way we handle the Giving Circle program to keep everyone involved safe.
It was decided we will only be providing gifts for family members 18 years old and younger this year. The adults in the families will be provided for. We are still looking into ways we will accomplish this.
Since shopping isn’t always easy or safe right now, we have created three online gift registries. Once you complete your order, the items will be sent directly to St Mary Rectory. The address is set up in the registry. Information for the registries:
WALMART – Go to Walmart.com – Registry – Events – Kenosha Giving Circle- Wisconsin – once it shows up click on it and start shopping
TARGET – Go to target.com – registry – search for organization – type in Kenosha Giving Circle – click and shop
BED, BATH & BEYOND – Go to bedbathandbeyond.com – in pulldown menu choose registry -find a registry – Kenosha Giving Circle Holtz & St Mary Holtz – view registry
GIFT DROP OFF
Since Mass attendance is limited, drop off will also be a little different. You may still drop off when you attend Mass, or drop off in the Rectory during regular hours (M-Th 8:30-3, F 8:30-12) In addition, you may drop off in Bell Hall on December 12 (3 to 5:30) and Dec 13 (9-12). If these times do not work for you, please contact Kathy Holtz 262-694-2051 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
SHOPPING FOR FAMILIES
Shopping for families from donations has also changed to keep the number of people in Bell Hall at a minimum at all times. You will need to sign up for a one-hour time slot for shopping on one of these dates – Dec 17, 18, 19, 20 on the Parish web site – stmarycatholic.org or contact Kathy Holtz at 262-694-2051.
There will be an option this year to adopt a family. You will be given a family with ages of children, gift suggestions, and guidelines for purchases. You will then bring the purchases to Bell Hall at a preset time during the shopping days. Contact Kathy Holtz 262-694-2051 if you would like to Adopt a Family.
The plan is to have a family member come to pick up the wrapped gifts on Sunday December 20 in a drive thru fashion. If they are unable to pick up their gifts we are asking the counselors to pick them up in Bell Hall on Monday, December 21. There may be a few families who we will need to have their gifts delivered and we will do that as a porch drop off with social distancing. We may need volunteers for delivering these.
SCRIP will be available for purchase. You may order as usual, buy in the Rectory on Friday mornings from 9 to 12 and for the month of December you may purchase SCRIP on Saturday mornings in the Rectory 9 to 12. Most needed cards are WalMart, Pick n Save, Piggly Wiggly, and Target.
- Gift Suggestions for younger children – Legos, Matchbox cars, Slime Kits, Puzzles, Building toys, Dinosaurs, Barbies and Baby Dolls, Paw Patrol items, Trolls, JoJo Siwa items, Duplos, warm clothes, sweatshirts, pajamas, Action Figures, snowpants, boots, winter coats
- Gift suggestion for older children – headphones, hoodies – zipper or pullover, make up, nail polish, art kits, Packers/Bears shirts, sweatpants, Bluetooth speakers or headphones, Fortnite, Puzzles, warm clothes that are trendy, remote control vehicles, blankets, winter coats
- Adult Family Gift – we would like to give each family 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 wash cloths, a blanket and/or board game and a bottle of detergent. SO, we will need a lot of these items.
Because the Pandemic has affected so many families financially, we assume the need will be even greater this year than last. So, we are asking you to do as much as you are able this year – by buying gifts, purchasing SCRIP, and sending monetary donations.
