On behalf of our parishes and cemeteries, we first offer our condolences for your loss and prayers for your loved one and your family. We know that the Lord desires that we return to Him after our deaths. In order to enter God's perfect love, the souls of those who love God often go through a final stage of purification (Purgatory). Those of us who are still living can assist our deceased loved ones in this purification by having a funeral Mass for them. The funeral Mass focuses on the Paschal Mystery, specifically that Christ rose from death and has made this possible for us, too. The Mass brings comfort to the grieving and gives significant graces to the deceased as they are in this purification.
When your loved one dies, it is common to contact the funeral home who then contacts Father Sean directly. Father Sean, our pastor, works with the funeral home and family to select a date and time for the funeral. Unless otherwise agreed upon, our funerals are at 10:00 a.m. to allow time for a burial and committal service afterwards. Once the date is established, Father Sean will connect with the family for details about the deceased as well as preferences with certain aspects of the Mass. If you are in the process of planning or pre-planning a funeral, look at the links below for options of readings and music selections to help you prepare for your meeting with Father Sean. Consider using one of our Supporting Funeral Homes with whom we partner to assist grieving families of deceased loved ones.
